and fear that this profit will be expensive-
ly purchased at the cost of increased charges
by the Bank.
The real difficulty seems to be to
assess the division, as between the Hong
Kong Government and the Treasury, of the
actual cost of the transfer of funds. The
Hong kong Government can well maintain that,
as they are in a position to make their
remittances, within limits, at times to
suit themselves, they can in favourable
circumstances rake a profit on the operation,
which they have no ground for sharing with
the Treasury, who are not so favourably
placed.
